I had discovered Ironhawk - Boozehounds from Hell sometime in 2016. I had a friend who was trying to get me into it long before then, but I didn’t pay any heed because I’m exceptionally close minded when it comes to listening to new music. I think I only started listening to Ironhawk because I was listening to a lot of Tank - Filth Hounds of Hades. And because I was so endeared to the little play one words that Ironhawk did I gave the recordings a listen. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but when the apocalyptic motorcrust hit my ears I was beyond sold on the band. It’s still a recording I regularly listen to til this day, and they’re one of my favourite Australian punk bands.

When I get really stoked on a band, I sometimes (rarely) take it upon myself to accost a band member and demand that I draw for them. Being a giant nerd, I tend to get overly passionate, especially when I’m drunk. Ironhawk were playing a show during Odio’s 2017 tour. I excitedly went up to Simon form Ironhawk, showed him my artwork, raved on about how much I like the band and asked if I could draw for them. I was ranting so much I actually missed Odio’s entire set (as well as making Simon miss it). The artwork ended up being used for a little Europe tour the band went on and Simon the gentleman didn’t take advantage of my raging love for Ironhawk and even gave me money for my work. I would have happily done it for free just to support the band.

So the moral of this story is Ironhawk rule and Simon is a super nice guy.
